Why beginner plans feel too hard
Low-star reviews of Pilates apps (October 2026) say it plainly: "Not for beginners", "The exercises are far too hard", balance-heavy moves for people who asked for easy, and "easy exercises" that weren't easy with knee issues. Wall and mat programs often assume you can get up and down from the floor comfortably.
How to start gently
- Pick your posture: chair, standing or floor. Chair is a perfectly good start.
- Two moves only. Learn them well before adding more.
- Breathe slowly. Most cues follow the breath: round as you breathe out, lift as you breathe in.
- Same time every day. A reminder helps more than motivation.
- Stop if anything hurts. Gentle moves, not medical advice.
The first Duoleaf session
On day 1 the session is picked from your goal and your posture. The floor-only moves, like the glute bridge, only appear when you choose the floor. Each session is 10 seconds to settle, two 45-second moves and a 20-second close. Captions are always on; English voice cues are optional.

Questions
Can a complete beginner do Pilates at home?
Yes. Start with a few gentle moves in a chair or standing, and build the habit before adding time.
Do I need to get down on the floor?
No. Every Duoleaf session has a chair and a standing version.
How long should a beginner Pilates session be?
Short enough to do every day. Duoleaf starts with 2 minutes; you can add a second round later.
