Why long-distance workouts fall apart
- Schedules: a live video workout needs both free at once, which rarely holds for long.
- Different levels: one runs, one doesn't. A shared plan feels wrong for one of you.
- Different phones: "I have an iPhone and he has an android" is a real blocker in r/LongDistance threads.
What works instead
- Keep the shared part tiny and the same for both, so nobody feels behind.
- Do it at your own time; share the result, not the session.
- Make missing a day cheap, so one bad week doesn't end it.
- Keep your bigger training separate. The shared habit is the floor, not the ceiling.
Duoleaf for long distance
Both of you get the same 2-minute session each day and do it in your own posture. Each of you is counted on your own local date, so a session at 23:50 in Lisbon and one at 08:00 in Seoul both count for that day. If one of you is away for a few days, the other keeps the plant alive for up to a week. Duoleaf is on Android now; the iPhone app is on its way, and then you can pair across both.
Questions
Can we do the session at different times?
Yes. Each of you does it whenever it fits, and you see when the other is done.
Does it work across time zones?
Yes. Each of you is counted on your own local date.
Is it a full workout?
No. It is 2 gentle minutes, a small daily habit. Keep any bigger training separate.
Can one of us be on iPhone?
Not yet. Duoleaf is on Android now and the iPhone version is on its way.
